As an artist-centered organization, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts was founded by artists for artists and in this spirit, our programs seek to perpetually give the institution to artists through the gift of time, space and support. Established in 1981, the Bemis Center’s sole mission has been to support exceptional talent. This mission is achieved through our international Artist-in-Residence program, and Exhibitions and Community Arts programs that directly fund and support artists’ process, and catalyze their work to engage and challenge the public.
